Introduction

Battens Solicitors are recognised as one of the country’s most progressive law firms providing solutions to clients nationwide. They have offices in Yeovil, Sherborne, Castle Cary, Dorchester, Wareham, Bath and London.

Naked Telecom would be required to handle all aspects of migration, including communicating with their old supplier and training current Battens staff to effectively manage their migration between departments.

Brief

Link Battens’ 6 sites with a phone system and private network to effectively enable a single working phone system and network. Internet performance must be maximised (allowing for dissimilar geographical requirements) and costs must be significiantly reduced when compared with their old supplier.

Phone equipment originally consisted of a combination of ISDN and VoIP systems across various sites. Naked Telecom was asked to unify the technology between sites into a single VoIP system.

It was imperative that the migration was performed seamlessly, as Battens use their phones daily and on a frequent basis.

Solution

A 3CX VoIP system was installed across sites, along with new network switches, an appropriately designed MPLS circuit at the main site, and a VPN to connect sites together. Gamma leased lines and converged broadband was also installed (physically seperate from the BT network) to handle all calls and data transfer.

Naked Telecom trained users and trained their IT network supervisors on technical aspects of the system.

Migration from ISDN

Naked Telecom operated a phased transition to migrate all users from ISDN to VoIP.

We installed 3CX software supported on a cloud-hosted PBX and a site-based PBX (main site) while moving groups of users together within a strategic timeframe.

Summary

Naked Telecom performed a phased migration to VoIP across all 6 geographically dissimilar sites, installed new Internet and network connections and trained technical and regular staff to use their system effectively.
